Deliciously Evil – figma Dead Master

A very belated post but I bring to you some shots of my figma Dead Master!

With uni stuff eating up my time, I thought I would have had more time in the holidays to catch up on my figu stuff.

Apparently I was mistaken as triple events STGCC, EOY and Comic Fiesta completely drained my time and energy to do anything else. Hopefully I will have the energy and motivation to keep up on the rest of my figus. Still have many projects to do. 8D

That said, figma Dead Master is a work of art.

I’m loving how the her horns and hands are made shiny which gives a kinda slick feel. I’m not so hot about the shiny joints though since I feel they draw unwanted attention to them.

Twin drill hair is actually rubber, so they can dangle but yet not obstruct arm movement. Overall quality is good.

And as you can see, she comes with two floating skulls, stands included. I can see many uses for that.

I personally think part of the deal clincher is the scythe.

It’s fgt awesome, and actually sharp enough at the tip to poke holes in stuff.

Nice Scythe

The paint work on the scythe really stands out, giving it some awesome texture and feel.

Those of you who have seen my previous Black Rock Shooter figma post would probably have recognised the background by now.

I decided to try a little trick with color correction gels that I read about now that I had two flash units.

*lick*

Shots were achieved with a flash unit behind the background and a fill flash covered with an orange correction gel to give the bluish background effect with a tungsten setting.

You can check what I did in the past for BRS as well here.

“Come and get me darling…”

Oh and if you haven’t noticed, Dead Master’s wings are transparent.

“I will save you! (inner monologue BRS doesn’t speak)”

You obviously cannot shoot Dead Master without BRS in the picture haha.

“Is that all you got?……”

Stability-wise, Dead Master is quite solid, largely being able to stand without assistance, an important thing for me.

With the scythe it can get tricky, especially with its large size but it is not as top heavy as Vita’s hammer so it is still pretty stable.

“Because it’s not enough!”

The skulls are pretty hard to use though since they obviously can’t stand on their own and I abhor using stands in my shots (where they can be seen at any rate).

I’m still pondering if they can be modded with LEDs inside but I have my doubts. It’s hard to shoot them in dark situations as the light needs to go in from the front in order for their green eyes and mouth to show up properly.

“You are mine now”

But they make for good props for Dead Master when use like the above.

Pet skulls – easier to maintain than dogs

Overall impressions?

Great quality piece with awesome props.

My only gripe with it being that her skirt and wings make transportation difficult by my usual means. Wings and horns are not detachable to my knowledge and I wouldn’t recommend trying either.

But I’m sure you people have other transport solutions.

To quote Takuto from Star Driver, “It’s a BUY!”.
