Happy New Year 2010, We Are 1 Year Old !!

It’s 2010 !! Happy New Year to everyone from your friendly folks here in The Banzai! Effect ! Apart from celebrating new year, we are 1 year old now, Yay and more yay!

If you were wondering where the hell we came from, it all started with a personal blog back in 2005 that evolved into a anime blog in 2007 and the passion grew just as simple as that. Next I thought of the fact that it is kinda lonely to blog alone, hence I started asking people to join the blog as a writer and write about the relevant stuff. This was warmly welcomed and the number of writers who joined us grew, some left some stayed until one day…

that was how it began in a nutshell…

2009 had been very exciting, with us running around events taking photos, it was also an honor to check out Anime Festival Asia and End of Year 2009 events as an affiliate, kudos to the committee.  Most importantly, 2009 was also a year that I got to meet up and interact other fellow bloggers, cosplayers and photographers!!. It was very nice knowing you people :D It was also an honor to have a space in Vr-zone forum and meet up with fellow Vr-zoners too. Cheers people !!

Asking me about what I wish for in 2010 ? A BIGGER BANZAI ! I hope to meet up with other bloggers and site writers that are overseas if I get to travel but my pockets right now are saying no so it might take a long while. =P

A very great thank you to the writers who came from my old blog to The Banzai! Effect. Specially to nutcase23 for his creative works, Setsukyie for his music covers, Jellokun for his podcast. That’s about it, HAPPY NEW YEAR !! Hope 2010 is a better year for us and you too ^^ hmm…now, what about other writers ? What do they have to say …check it out below!

nutcase23: Time certainly flies as TBE now looks at its very first anniversary after our official launch at the start of this year. Certainly alot has happened since then and it is nice to know that TBE has managed to make a small little name for itself. We have gone through many cosmetic changes and to be honest, I never envisioned the site evolving into the way it is now (largely thanks to oOgA’s tinkering and management, for better or for worse =/).

My figurine reviews continue and I’ve also started on my own comic series, which I hope I will be able continue on and hope you will enjoy. TBE has also somehow developed a somewhat well-oiled machinery for events coverage, kicked into place by AFA 09. I certainly hope the cosplaying scene in Singapore continues and grows. It is a joy to see your favorite characters come to life (although a certain someone was traumatized by a certain nanoG** XD) and personally, I find cosplayer interaction one of the main reasons events are so enjoyable.

But what I feel was the most significant of all this year, is meeting with the We Love Nendoroids and Figmas (WLNF) gang.

Love you guys! In a platonic sense of course =P

In them, I have found a group of like minded friends  who share the same passion as me (if not more) in figurines and have instilled in me the passion for photography. I now have grown skin as thick as a hippo and have no qualms lying flat on the ground in public to take photos of figurines. I have no idea if that is a good thing or not though. =/

To them, I have to say “thank you” and “dammit-you-guys-poisoned-me-to-buy-a-dslr-curses”. May we meet up more often for more figurine fun and I wish all a Happy New Year! :3

2009 had been a wonderful year. Many figurines were released and many wallets were killed (lol). Besides that, Singapore had held many anime/cosplay related events such as AFA 2009 where Dannychoo, the K-ON seiyuus and singers were invited over from Japan. Furthermore, End of Year (EOY) cosplay event had managed to continue for 1 more year. All these events were reported by TBE which has grown much larger and more important to Singapore’s anime/cosplay/figurine circle this year.

We have a lot of fun in 2009. However, 2009 had come to an end and 2010, the year of Taiga Tiger, has arrived.

Will there be a nendoroid Taiga in 2010?

Well, in 2010, I hope that TBE would continue to grow and maybe become the Singapore version of Dannychoo.com. I also hope that anime/cosplay related events would continue to strive in Singapore (Hint: Hope that AFA and EOY would continue).

Now for my own wishes:

1) Study HARDER!!!

2) Cut down on figurine purchases (As if this will succeed).

3) Hope for better economy (which will translate to cheaper figurine. lol).

4) EVANGELION 3.0!!! (We need MORE Asuka)

5) Must work during holidays (For figurines).

Hello everyone, its the beginning of 2010! Wish everyone a good start for the year, for students all the best in your results, for working people; all the in your work relationships with clients and bosses. And may TBE be reached out to more readers out there!

This day is also my 23rd birthday ^^, hope I can find a good job soon and able to save up for new equipments and improve in my photography and writing skills.

Congratulations to TBE for its first birthday, may it continue to grow and prosper in the years to come, providing visitors with news of the ACG scene both local and overseas. Cheers

I also have hopes that TBE will be a platform to promote cosplayers to the international community, but that would be up to Ooga to decide as he is the boss!

It’s a New Year guys! 2009 was indeed a great year for me, and for The Banzai! Effect too. I mean, wow, TBE has progressed a lot (over 1000 posts FTW), and it’s only been 1 year since its birth. TBE was born on the 1st of January last year, and today marks TBE’s first birthday ^_^

A year ago, TBE wasn’t as big as today. It was all thanks to oOgA and the gang that TBE has achieved this much success, they made the site what it is today. Gah..now that I mention it, I didn’t do much last year..haha. I was both busy and lazy (lol) in 2009. Writing episodic reviews was not my thing anymore, and I was running out of ideas when it came to editorials, and there are no anime conventions in my area either. So, I didn’t know what to write about anymore. You won’t be seeing me much this year either, since 2010 is my last year of high school, and I have BIG exam coming up (SPM >_<).

But I’m not planning to leave TBE just yet, I promise that after my exams are done, I’ll write more. I joined the TBE family back in the Anime Banzai! days in January of 2008. I was there with oOgA and nutcase23 when TBE was still in its pre-stage. And even though I didn’t contribute much on TBE, I’m grateful that I’m still accepted in the family (right guys?), and oOgA still asked me to write this, haha.

Anyway, you guys must be tired of hearing this, but still, Happy New Year!
And Happy Birthday to TBE ^_^
